Exhibitor Products and Services Sessions

We offer industry-driven sessions presented by our exhibitors to showcase their innovative products and services.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 12:30 PM
Rapid Electric Motor and Drive Efficiency Mapping, Going Beyond a Typical Power Analyzer

Mike Hoyer, Applications/Marketing Engineer
HBM Test and Measurement

Motor efficiency testing has become extremely important. Testing with a typical power analyser only offers inadequate numerical results. Instead, all electrical and mechanical signals must be acquired and analysed simultaneously at high sample rates with fast transfer to automation systems for accurate and rapid electric motor and drive efficiency mapping.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 1:00 PM
GaN HEMT: Design for Efficiency

Dr. Tamara Baksht, CEO
VisIC Technologies

VisIC Technologies has achieved record high efficiencies with its GaN power conversion modules.
VisIC’s DC/DC converter, achieving over 99% switching efficiency at 200kHz at a 3kW power level, will be presented in detail. VisIC’s relatively simple DC/DC circuit demonstrates the exceptional performance of its GaN-based multichip module while enabling the overall system size and cost savings of higher frequency operation.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 1:30 PM
Model-Based Design for Motor and Power Control Applications

Tony Lennon, Motor & Power Applications
MathWorks

Simulation helps engineers apply power electronics and advance control design to electric vehicles, renewable energy, and motor control. Model-Based Design with MATLAB and Simulink offers an environment that enables developers to explore advanced control concepts, capture requirements, design and validate using simulation, and implement ideas for production. This session will examine the scope of MathWorks solution for Model-Based Design.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 2:00 PM
CeraLink™ Compact Solution for Fast-Switching and Snubber Applications

Matt Reynolds, Field Applications Engineering Manager, Industrial Market
EPCOS Inc.

To achieve the goal of higher efficiencies, smaller size and lower cost, power electronics continue to demand capacitor technologies with much higher resonant frequencies. Paramount is a requirement for both very low inductance and low effective series resistance for the purposes of integration into semiconductor modules that require higher temperature stability, unwavering reliability and overall longer useful life. CeraLink™, is offered as a solution for these new technical requirements. Join our 30-min seminar as we demonstrate the high-performance benefits of this new technology.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 2:30 PM
KNOW THY POWER: Power Analysis for Energy Conversion Devices
Monika Little, Application Engineer
Keysight Technologies

Proper evaluation of a product’s efficiency depends on accurate power measurements. There are a variety of ways to measure power.  Since some are more accurate than others, choosing the right method to characterize and evaluate any power conversion device design, whether it is DC or AC, single or three phase system, is critical for success of the design project.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 3:00 PM
Improving Energy Saving Up To 10% Above Standards VFDs With Active Energy Control®
Jacob Feutz, Flex Center Manager
Eaton Corporation

Learn about Active Energy Control®, an energy optimizing algorithm that monitors the output requirements while reducing the input power requirements for variable torque loads. By reducing the speed and running it below 60Hz, Active Energy Control® can optimize the input power required even more than a typical VFD.

Monday September 19, 2016 – Room 103C, 3:30 PM
Wolong Electric – A Dynamic Company Growing With Innovation and Global Operation
Zheng Zhang Ph.D., Fellow IEEE
Wolong Electric Group Co. Ltd.

In the past decade, through the global acquisition, Wolong rapidly becomes a multiple national company, the fourth largest electrical machine manufacturer in the world. This presentation will be an opportunity to introduce the company’s core products, manufacturing capability and the strategies how to grow our business with innovation and the synergy in global operation.
